At City Tailors, we make men’s suits Made-to-Measure (our most popular option) or True Bespoke. Both are crafted for you – the difference is how we begin.
Made-to-Measure: refined tailoring with a proven foundation
Made-to-measure starts from a tried-and-tested base pattern that we refine to your posture, proportions, and preferences through fittings.
It’s ideal if you know the look you want – a modern business suit, a wedding suit, a double-breasted style, or a classic three-piece – and you want a precise fit without starting from a blank page.
True Bespoke: drafted from scratch for a one-of-one suit
True bespoke is for clients who want something completely unique, have tricky fit challenges, or want the full traditional process.
We draft an individual pattern from scratch, then refine it through staged fittings until the balance, drape, and comfort are exactly right.

How it works
Typical timelines: Made-to-measure is usually 10-12 weeks. True bespoke is typically 12-16 weeks, depending on fabric and fittings.
- Consultation: We talk through when you’ll wear the suit (work, wedding, events), your preferred fit, and the level of structure you like.
- Measurements & design choices: We take detailed measurements and help you choose cloth, lining, buttons, lapels and pockets.
- Fittings: We check shoulder balance, sleeve pitch, jacket length, waist shaping, and trouser break – then refine until it sits naturally.
- Final making & finishing: Your suit is completed, pressed, and checked in a final fitting.
Typical starting prices
Starting prices include fabric from our standard ranges. If you’d like to use your own fabric, we can – we’ll confirm suitability (weight, stretch, shrinkage) and adjust the quote accordingly.
Final quotes depend on fabric choice, construction, and finishing.

We offer in-person fittings at both branches. Walk-ins are welcome, but booking is the easiest way to make sure a tailor is ready for an unhurried consultation and fitting.
Brighton (North Street): Wedding suits, business tailoring and sharp modern fits – ideal if you want a suit that looks clean and contemporary.
Bath (Milsom Street): Refined, classic tailoring and finishing – ideal for formal suits and heritage venues.
